District Pulse

District Pulse is a new dashboard that tracks the city’s recovery along a variety of metrics—office occupancy, transit use, employment and student test scores.

The dashboard consolidates data from multiple sources, including:

Kastle swipe-in data (weekly office occupancy)
WMATA
real estate market reports from CBRE and JLL (office leasing rate)
DOES (labor statistics)
OSSE (PARCC scores)
NCES (NAEP scores)

We update the overall dashboard monthly and conduct a deeper dive into more granular topics such as how specific sectors or industries are recovering.

We hope that the dashboard brings more urgency to tackling the economic challenges facing the city, particularly the commercial core. We also hope it will be a way to celebrate recovery successes.
